The Cambo Bike project focused on developing safe, efficient, and inexpensive transportation for Cambodia's developing economy through ethnographic research and a collaboration with Brown University's Engineering program. Transportation has a bearing on most daily activities and directly affects livelihood and quality of life. Access to transportation continues to be one of the major problems facing inhabitants of rural areas in developing countries. Our mission focuses on two issues impacting people specifically in rural Cambodia: High levels of poverty, and the struggles and challenges of people with disabilities. The bike and its instruction manual is our effort to help relieve these problems by providing a modular component that can be modified with local materials and adapt to suit the individuals need.
